On April 13, Houston-based private real estate investment and development firm EMBER hosted a public unveiling event for The Grand Prairie, a 1,730-acre nature-focused master-planned community in Hockley, TX. A community-wide, family-focused celebration, The Grandest Opening drew an exuberant crowd of hundreds of guests, including newly minted homeowners, prospective buyers, realtors and neighbors – all of whom were invited to explore and experience the community’s model home park and welcome experience.


The Grandest Opening included tours of the community’s eight glowing single- and two-story model homes by some of Houston’s top builders: David Weekley HomesPerry HomesSitterle HomesVillage Builders, and Westin Homes – as well as a host of free family-friendly activations.


After entering the party grounds through a majestic, Instaworthy welcome arch, all eyes were immediately drawn to local stilt walker Jamie Hedden, who encouraged guests to enjoy activities and offerings ranging from face painting courtesy of Wow Party Art, and a tech-infused virtual golf simulator from The Range, to the Hello Flower Bar flower cart, petting zoo from Wild Zoofari and Popfancy popsicle cart. Additional food vendors included the infamous Seafood Lady, Smok’d It Up BBQ and Hockley’s very own Backdoor Pizza, while Kyle Mathis and a local magician delivered entertainment in some of the model homes.  At the core of it all, The Turner Country Band provided a lively musical backdrop for the day of festivities.


A special highlight of the party was the drawing of an all-expenses paid trip to the Grand Canyon for one lucky family.

Amenities at The Grand Prairie include a one-of-a-kind welcome experience located within The Grand Prairie’s model home park, The Sundancer amenity center (anticipated to open in spring 2025), miles of winding and interconnected hike & bike trails, a 70-acre, kayak-friendly Lake Ember, five smaller community lakes and over 450 acres of dedicated parkland that will include a number of pocket parks, including The Overlook, a 40-foot hill at the heart of the community. The Grand Prairie also recently announced plans for an onsite Waller ISD elementary school along Baethe Rd. that will offer young residents the opportunity to walk or bike to school on a daily basis. 


Homes in The Grand Prairie range in price from the upper $200s to the $600s+ and are available on 40- 45-, 50- and 60-foot homesites from the above-mentioned home builders. To date, The Grand Prairie has closed on 15 homes in the community; homes in phase one – 481 in total – are expected to complete construction in spring of 2025.
